This kitchen had good bones - white shaker cabinets, solid flooring, and a nice wall of natural light. But the countertop and upper wall space weren't doing much. The homeowner wanted something with warmth and character, something that would actually stand out against all that crisp white. That's where the butcher block came in.

We installed a full-run acacia butcher block countertop across the entire base cabinet run, plus a matching set of two floating shelves on the wall above. The wood grain on this material is something else - rich browns, deep amber, and lighter streaks all running together in a tight mosaic pattern. No two pieces look exactly alike, and the contrast against the white cabinets is sharp without being overdone.

Getting the countertop fitted properly across a long run like this takes patience. The seams need to land right, the overhang has to be consistent, and you need to account for how the wood will move over time. We took our time on the fit before any finishing work started. The floating shelves above got the same treatment - level, anchored securely, and matched to the countertop material so the whole wall reads as one cohesive design element.

What we like about this kind of work is that it's both functional and finished. The homeowner didn't just get a good-looking kitchen - they got a durable prep surface, real storage up top, and a wall that actually has a focal point now. Butcher block is one of those materials that only gets better with age when it's properly maintained, and acacia specifically holds up well in a working kitchen environment.

We do this kind of work regularly for homeowners across Silverdale and the wider Kitsap County area. Whether it's a single countertop swap or a full cabinet and surface installation, we come in with the right tools and the experience to get the details right. The finished product speaks for itself.
