Not every remodel is straightforward. When you've got a space this unique - raw log posts, multi-level steps, a wood-burning fireplace insert - the tile work has to be planned carefully and executed by someone who actually knows what they're doing. That's exactly the kind of job where bringing in the right specialist makes all the difference.
We brought in a tile specialist for this one, and it shows. Large-format dark slate tiles were fitted across the hearth floor, the raised platform, and up the surrounding walls - all working around the structural log posts and the fireplace opening. Getting consistent grout lines and level surfaces across that many different planes isn't easy. It takes patience and real skill.
That's something we feel strongly about. Knowing your strengths - and knowing when to call in an expert - is what separates work that lasts from work that has to be redone. We'd rather get it right the first time than cut corners and deal with the fallout later.
The dark slate ties the whole space together, too. It holds its own next to the natural wood tones without competing with them. The result feels intentional, sturdy, and built to handle years of use around a working fireplace. That's the goal on every job.
Whether it's a fireplace surround, a bathroom floor, or a kitchen backsplash, custom tile work adds real value when it's done properly. The material, the layout, the execution - all of it matters. We make sure the right people are on the job so the finished result is something you're proud of for the long haul.
